Four months passed like that . He did try to get close to her but she always pushed him more and more away from herself . His family tried to make her feel at home but she never wanted a home . She just wanted a ' family ' to call her own but for some reason she wasn't ready to accept them as hers because according to her she didn't deserve their love . She avoided them by staying at her office as much as she could have . She wanted to ignore them as much as she could because She felt like she couldn't get close to them but why ?
Four months later on one day -
"Gauri I think you should focus on yourself too rather than just focusing your work the whole time . You are getting weaker by the day ." Gauri ' s secretary MRS SAKSHI MALHOTRA said looking at her .
"Sakshi it's just that i can't seem to find a good hospital for mom to get treated at . You know how worried i have been ever since her health has been deteriorating day by day ." I said looking at her .
"What about Mr Saini's sister in law ?" She asked when i suddenly remembered about what he had told me .
"He did tell me that his sister in law is a specialist in this cause . I will try contacting her ." I replied making her look at me with her eyebrows arched in confusion.
"Contacting her ? Don't you live in the same house as her then why do you need to contact her ?" She asked chuckling sarcastically which reminded me of something .
Flashback ~ two months ago -
I was walking out of the house leaving for my work when i suddenly bumped into someone .
"Ouch ! " The woman in front of me hissed in pain making me look at her .
"Ohh gauri ."His sister in law was standing there in front of me . She looked at me with soft eyes making me look here and there .
"Ho- ." She was about to say something when i interrupted her .
"I am sorry but i gotta go ." I said and went out of the house while she looked at me dumbfounded .
Back to present ~
"I meant that i will ask her today only ." I said lying to her at her face but since after my mother she is my second protector . I knew that she would obviously very easily make out that i was lying .
"I know you are lying to me gauri . I know you since we were like ten but don't worry i won't ask you about it because I know if you wanted you would have told me already ." She said as she knows me a lot to which i hummed in response .
"Now Listen to me carefully . Go back home ok and don't even think about staying here all night again ." She said standing at the door taking her leave while i looked at her in a questioning manner and she obviously understood why I was looking at her like that .
"Cctv baby ." She said and then winked at me making me make faces at her .
"And i won't hesitate telling aunty this time if you don't listen to me" She said and then took her leave after passing me a flying kiss to which i chuckled .
"This girl ." I said chuckling to myself but then went back to work when I remembered something again .
Flashback ~ one month ago -
I entered the house silently at 4 in the morning with the spare key i always have on me . But as soon as I entered a voice interrupted my silent thoughts and not going to lie it did send shivers all throughout my body .
"Where were you ?" He asked sat on the sofa facing me .
"At work ." I replied with my as usual cold ass tone .
"Is this even a time to come home gauri . What were you even doing till 4 am ? I have been noticing you and you aren't eating well , you aren't sleeping well , you aren't behaving like you did before . What is happening to you ? Are you even okay or Is something bothering you ?" He asked getting up from the sofa and coming close to me and i could make out from his tone that he was worried about me but why . He shouldn't be .
"You ! It's you who is bothering me . I don't like your presence . So i tend to avoid it . I come when you are asleep and leave when you are asleep . I prefer not engaging in any conversations with you because they seem to bother me ." I said looking straight into his eyes but somewhere in my heart I knew why I said this not because I didn't like his presence but because I was becoming prone to his presence which i didn't want .
"Fine ! If that's why you don't come home then don't worry about it from now . You won't see me in this house or anywhere and i will make sure that you don't have to worry about that . You just please return home at a reasonable time so that i know you are safe please ." He said and his voice was ignited something in me which seemed to soften me and that bothered me .
"Don't do this doctor ." I said still looking in his eyes and then went straight to the room .
Back to present ~
I can't fall for him but his smile , his way of words and most importantly his concern for me and how he looks at me even when he is talking to someone else . Why is he doing this . Uggh ! This man is getting to my head now .
And the worst part is that i have started to like his presence so much so that I have become prone to it and that is why I keep pushing him away from me .
I was thinking about him when another memory made its way to my mind but this time not so much of a merry one but one that's nothing less than a sort of nightmare to me .
Flashback - 18 years ago ~
"Don't you love me now ? You used to love me right then how can you say that ? You married me not her . How can you say that you want her and not me . Please don't do this to me Mr bansal . Please don't ." A lady said clinging to a man's feet stopping him from leaving with two kids looking at them .
"Mina is who i love . That is where my priority lies . Not with you . " He said and the woman got up from his feet and looked straight into his eyes with her fire ignited eyes .
"What about the mother of your children ?" She said feeling hurt looking at her son and daughter with a sympathetic look as the poor little kids had to witness something of such at such futile age .
"Don't bring the kids in this ." The man said shouting .
"Okay fine then . Then What about the woman you married ?" She asked shouting and crying .
"Just think about it Mr bansal how will I take care of them alone . I have no job , no house . Where will I go with them ?" The woman asked holding her heart while still looking at her two kids .
"If that's what the problem is . How about i take my son with me because at least he can earn money for me unlike this daughter of yours ." He said and held his son's hand while dragging him out while the woman was shouting at him to leave her son alone but he didn't listen to her and put him in the car and started driving when the son started shouting .

back to present ~

Someone shook me and i got up from my nightmare huffing .
"Didn't i tell you to leave early huh ? I knew it . I knew you wouldn't leave That's why I came to check on you
" Sakshi said while looking at me but after seeing how I was sweating she put the palm of her hand on her forehead and her expressions changed in a split of a second .
"Oh my god Gauri . You have a high fever . For god 's sake start taking care of yourself too ." She said holding me and then gave me a hand helping me to get up . I was about to go lay on the couch but she pulled me back .
"No not the couch again . Come i will drop you at your house ." She said holding me from my shoulders to support me from falling .
"But - ." I tried protesting but soon realised that it would be of no work today so had to give in at the end .
"No but' s . Come I will drop you home ." She said and took me down and sat in the car and then drove me to the house and we soon reached as it isn't that far from my company .
"Wait let me help you ." She said taking off her seatbelt but i stopped her .
"No need . I can manage myself ." I said assuring her .
"Are you sure ?" She asked again .
"Yeah . I am sure ." I replied making her sigh but then she let me be .
"Okay bye ." She bid goodbye and then left .
I was back pretty early today than my usual arrival . I wondered if he would be here right now because i have no clue how he is so good at hiding from me as he didn't come in front of me even once in the past one month . I always wonder if he's a doctor or a professional hide and seek player .
I wonder if I hurt him that much that much that now he doesn't even look at me even if we bump into each other anywhere . Because to be honest he is everywhere where i am . I thought to myself while walking towards the door of the house and opened it entering inside the house .
I was on my way up the stairs to the room when i felt dizzy all of a sudden and this time i couldn't even get a hold of the railing in time resulting in me losing my balance .
But before i could have fallen someone caught me and prevented me from hitting the ground hard . I heard that person say something and then everything went black .
"I knew something was wrong . I can't see you hurt anymore and trust me when I say this i am trying my best to find out about you my love ."
That voice was the last thing I heard before everything went black ...
